Slavery Act

Slavery Act Statement for Citizen Machinery UK Limited

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31 December 2017.

The Citizen Group is totally opposed to slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our global operations, including our supply chain.

Organisation’s Structure

The Citizen Group of Companies is the number one global producer of watches, machinery, fine medical devices and consumer electronics.

Our parent company The Citizen Watch Corporation is a Japanese entity, which operates on a global platform, including Europe and the UK. As an ethical company we support all aspects of Corporate Codes of Conduct, Environmental, Health & Safety and Quality practices. Staff welfare is of the utmost importance to our Company.

Our Supply Chains

We purchase the majority of our raw materials services and goods from third-party suppliers who are located worldwide to serve our Global businesses.

Relevant Polices

We are committed to act with integrity in all our business dealings and comply with laws. Many of our existing policies contain sections which are aimed at ensuring that there is adherence to local laws and compliance to our high standards of ethics in any part of our global business or supply chain.

Our relevant policies include:

  • Code of Conduct
  • Employment Handbook
  • Health & Safety Handbook
  • Environmental Policies

All of our policies are governed by both local laws and by the Citizen Watch CSR Report 2016, a copy of which is available on request.

Supplier Adherence to Our Corporate Ethics

As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate the risk of slavery and human trafficking in our companies and supply chains, we will strengthen our relationships with ethical suppliers to identify and assess potential risk areas. We will mitigate the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in our supply chains and then continually monitor potential risk areas.

We have a zero tolerance to slavery and human trafficking. To ensure all those in our supply chain comply with our values we will continually evaluate our supply chain for both existing suppliers and new suppliers using our own high standards and ethics as a benchmark.

Awareness

To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and our business, we will keep our UK staff that are responsible for procurement or employment authorisation, including the UK Board of Directors, aware of this legislation and requirement.

Our Effectiveness in Combating Slavery and Human Trafficking

We do not have key performance indicators specifically in relation to slavery or human trafficking as any instance would be a non-compliance and breach of employment laws, our direct employment practices, Code of Conduct, wider Group policies and / or supplier standards. However, the business practices that relate to the mitigation of slavery or human trafficking risk do have internal performance measures, including checking the eligibility of our staff to work in the UK. In relation to our own employment practices, we monitor and review.
